Dear Friends,
The past year has mostly been a blur for me, losing Julien last January ripped my heart out and took me to places that are hard to imagine. I”m only now seeing what positive things have taken place in 2011, and I want to share them with you, our supporters.
In March, Juliens Occupational Therapist ran New Yorks half marathon in Juliens name and raised money for the foundation. Thierry was so taken with this that he put a team together and along with many friends and family, ran the NJ half marathon in May.
As we are expanding our activities for the foundation, we decided to put up a new and improved website, please visit www.thejuliencollotfoundation.org to check it out, I welcome your comments.
Elisabetta Canalis (Italian Model, Actress) was invited to take part in Dancing With The Stars last season, she did the show for Julien, and shared his story with E! News and anyone who would listen to her. We thank her for her efforts, and while she did not last long on the show, we applaud her dedication to learning to dance and for helping childrens charities.
July brought us the most amazing event, The Ferrari Rally at La Villa Restaurant in Brooklyn! The cars came out for a rally through Long Island and Brooklyn, ending at La Villa in Park Slope, drivers came out in full force to support the JCF, we raised an amazing $65,000 in one day and enjoyed the most delicious food while celebrating.
In November, we were blessed to be a part of the Mark Zeplin Foundation’s annual event; a concert in NYC that honored the men and women lost in the 9-11 tragedy while giving back to the children in need, in our case, the children at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. We are so grateful to have been a part of this night.
With the money donated by you in 2011, we were able to fund another clinical trial, aimed at preventing graft versus host disease in children who cannot tolerate the usual preventative medications. Without a fresh approach the vast majority of these children will develop severe graft versus host disease. We are bringing hope to the hopeless and learning everyday that we do make a difference.
Thank you again for your support, we hope that we will remain on your mind and that you will continue to support us in the future.
God bless.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Cannon Collot
